I am currently a researcher at the Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights (ECI) at the University of Helsinki. I am also board member of the transnational activist and research network Network Institute for Global Democratization (NIGD). My research focuses on transnational activist networks and global transformations. I am interested in difference and conflict, leadership and learning in transnational social movement organisations and in the cultural politics of transnational activist networks. I also study activist engagements with different and conflicting visions of justice and equality, paradigms of social development and regimes of globalisation and global governance. In the past I worked on the global Right to the City movement; on free and open software activism, advocacy and implementation in civil society; on philanthropy and activist networks and, earlier, on traditional healers and social transformation among the Shipibo-Conibo of the Peruvian Amazon.
